Hi Deb and welcome back...also nice to see no harm has come with your recent terrible weather. I cannot believe how big Belleza has got. And even Tatu, she was just a tiny little button in the last pics you sent me and she's coming along nicely I see.

Hi Deb

NO, for the moment, we are still having tornado watchs but hopefully it will pass soon.
Thank you so much for asking.
Belleza is getting to be a nice size, she is doing wonderful in training for Schutzhund
Yeah, I took Tatu to a Novice puppy show and she pulled three 1st in her class, going
against another staffie bull and pulling two 2nd in group. I have had judged and other
breeder/handlers tell me I did a good job picking my first one.

Thanks so much for kind words

Schutzhund is a Sport created in Germany

Protection work = biting a sleeve, finding the bad guy (aka decoy)
Obedience work = showing the dog is fully a trained and well behaved dog.
Tracking work = finding articles that would be left behind from a bad guy (decoy)

It is fully trained in Prey drive not to say that some are trained in other drives but all in fun and reward. The sleeve in the protection work is like the dog getting a ball for working good.

I hope I have answered your question. Please let me know if you would like more information

To perfect sleeve work takes time and training.
Dogs believe the sleeve is there reward so they go after it.
Now you can train your dog on a suit (jacket / pants made for being bit) or even a hidden sleeve (goes under your clothes and trains the dog in Personal protection.
I DO NOT tain that way. I stick with sleeve work.

The bites come in many different forms in training. they have to work to get that bite on the decoy. dog must take a FULL mouth bite not a nip. A nip will get points counted off. Dog must hold until released and must release when commanded and not try to rebite unless decoy provokes it. They also do what they call a search, meaning the dogs have to look in blinds (they are half tent looking walls that a decoy will hide in. So they handler sends the dog to each blind searching for the bad guy (decoy)

It is a Beautiful sport when seen by people who know there stuff. I am still in the learning stages so it will still be time before we go get some titles.
