Stun gun used on dog after attack
Armed police had to stun a dog with a Taser gun after it turned on its owner in Lancashire.

The dog, believed to be a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, attacked the 46-year-old woman as she was out walking it in woods in Blackburn on Sunday evening.

Paramedics arrived to treat bite wounds to her legs but they had to withdraw after the dog attacked them.

The first police officer who arrived also had to back off until armed police arrived with the electric shock gun.

'Lawful breed'

Officers were then able to approach the dog to tie it up with rope before taking it to Blackburn police station.

The owner was taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital for treatment to the bite wounds on her legs. The paramedics and police were not injured.

A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "The dog has now been taken to the police station for further inquiries to be made.

"It is possibly a Staffordshire Bull Terrier, which is a lawful breed to have."
