Hello from North Derbyshire

Hi list.

We just joined and we gather it's customary to introduce yourselves...

We live in a north Derbyshire village with 2 Staffords - both rescued.

Our eldest - Jade - is a former stray (RSPCA in Derby) so we don't know how old she is but she was about a year old when we adopted her - 16 years ago next month!!! She is a sweety and hasn't an ounce of malice in her. The picture was taken a few years ago and she's a bit rickety now but still enjoys her walks!



Our youngest at 11 (!) is called Red and came to us from those great people at Northern SBT Rescue. We adopted Red aged 2 1/2 and is pictured here when we collected him from Rescue.



His dad was Ch Bellglen Rich Desire of Rikamia yet he ended up locked up and abandoned in a garage due to the divorce of his previous owners! Incredulous!

I'm a publisher by trade and in addition to producing Northern SBT Rescue's newsletter, also published 'Celebrating Staffordshire Bull Terriers' by Steve Stone.

We've had her 16 years but she was a year old when we had adopted her.

She's about 17 and had her tumour ridden spleen removed at 14 !!

If she was a cartoon character she'd be Captain Scarlet - indestructible!

Bless her, any ideas why she ended up in rescue in the first place?

Welcome to the forum. I've also got a rescue called Jade - shes 5 - I hope she gets to the ripe old age of 17!!

Hello and welcome Nick, Jane, Jade & Red. Such a devoted staffy family! Poor Red is a testiment to the fact that even though he came from a good breeder that I'm sure put much thought into planning his litter, good dogs can end up homeless through no fault of their own. It's nice that Jade & Red found a loving family like yours. Love the Steven Stone book as it takes a look at staffords from a different angle than the usual choosing, raising feeding & breeding aspect.
